Korg Legacy: Back to the Future

wsmix

Having done the hardware synthesis thing (both analogue and digital) and the DSP synthesis thing (OasysPCI and Pulsar), I have finally caught up with the times, and am starting to make heavy use of the Korg Legacy Digital Edition. Well, heavy use of the Wavestation, certainly. Having owned a WS keyboard, two AD's and an SR, I'm finding that the software version is giving me a >>Life on Mars experience, as I rediscover the programming techniques I developed over several years of using the originals, and load in some of my fifteen-year-old patches. The legacy version is missing one or two UI features, doesn't coming with multi-mode support (making effects sharing impossible), and it doesn't allow audio input like the A/D; on the other hand, it has resonant filters, and some improvements in vector control. Overall it's a really nice piece of work.

I am currently settling in on the >>P3 sequencer, >>Ableton Live and the Legacy Wavestation as a highly flexible, portable performance system; will I ever use my flight cases again?
