This is an article culled from archive material, circa 1997.

bbe362nr

Combined sonic maximiser and noise reduction in a 1U box. Not much to say about it really: plug it in, switch it on, and (if one believes the reviews) it's as if someone has removed pillows from the loudspeakers. The unit works by phase correcting frequencies which get distorted by the speakers; there are separate controls for low and high frequency correction.

I went through a phase (seven or eight years ago) of using the BBE on all of my mixes, and certainly overdid the effect once or twice, which tired out my ears and resulted in the BBE sitting in the garage. At some stage I'll bring it back out and try applying it sparingly…
