Evolution in the Bath

The artificial-life-based installation work Audiotierra will be shown at >>Expo Manchester this weekend. At the moment the audio and database layers of the software are being soak tested (somewhat appropriately, perhaps, since the exhibition space is a >>historic listed building that housed public baths).

Evolution is slow, even if it's artificial. Audiotierra takes several minutes to generate sound once it's been launched, and it can sometimes take hours for the gene pool to develop into a form that brings the most interesting music out of the granular synthesiser.
